Status of the Centre

The Centre in Lagos as other AALCO Centres, is a non profit, independent, international Arbitral Institution, whose purpose is to provide among other things a neutral venue for the resolution of disputes arising out of international commercial transactions by Arbitration and other Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) methods such as Conciliation/Mediation; for the benefit of  parties engaged in trade, commerce and investments with and within the African region.

Such ADR methods are expeditious, cost effective and utilize fair procedures. 

Its establishment is geared also towards encouraging settlement of disputes arising from international trade and commerce and investments within the region where the contract was performed.
